A RESUME THAT MATTERS

You do not want your resume to end up in the rejects pile or worse in the trash bin. An effective resume is you key to getting into the door for an interview. Your resume should mirror what you are and what you can do. Your strengths and capabilities should jump out of your resume and wow the company officer screening it. A lot of resume help is out there for you to read and learn from. Do not take this step for granted as this might just be where you are getting stuck at. Reams and reams of resumes sent out do not get you an interview for that job you are looking for. Just one properly written and put together resume is enough to land you that perfect job.

If you are looking for resume help, here are a few things that could give you the resume help you need:

1. Match your resume contents to your job objective. The structure of your resume and the way you highlight your achievements should be aligned with your specific job objective. Having a resume that follows a certain job objective is more organized and clearer, allowing the screening officer to see how, in less specific terms, you have worked your way towards your objective.

2. Use your resume to sell yourself (but, remember to be truthful in your advertising). Your resume should get you the job interview and not the job itself. Just like an advertising copy, your resume should be short and crisp with none of the fine print. It’s just a teaser designed to make the screening officer want to know more about you.

3. Quantify your achievements. Most all businesses are concerned with the numbers, with how you have been able to contribute to the bottom lines of your previous employers. Use figures to show how effectively managed an x number of people or how you have succeeded in generating x dollars in sales revenues for a particular campaign. These numbers will pop out of your resume and give the screener the impression that you indeed know what you are talking about.

4. Put down important names as your job references. Any resume help material would stress this. If you have worked closely with company executives and are confident enough about what they think of you, you should put them in as your references. Even in the section where you outline your job accomplishments, you should indicate whether or not you have been able to work with or reported to these key company officials. This will show the screening officer the value of your work to the companies you have previously worked for.
